Pan Peninsula Candle 1 - Darkness 0

I always thought it was somebody really serious like St Thomas Aquinas or Marcus Aurelius or Boethius or one of those guys, who first said 'It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness'.  Now, it turns out that it was a combination of Eleanor Roosevelt or an old Chinese proverb, which is somehow vaguely disappointing.
Be that as it may, the desperate people trying to sell expensive unwanted apartments in the cold, spooky post-credit-crunch Pan Peninsula Towers have clearly paid heed either to this proverb or to my blog, because they have now decided to try to get some attention by lighting up the towers at night.  To this end they have rented one of those cloud-illuminating rotating spotlight thingies, and also have started turning on the multi-coloured and actually rather pretty illuminations on the summit of the towers on some kind of random on-off switch.  You will be able to see it if you look towards Canary Wharf after sunset and before about 8:30 pm.  The cheery beams of the rotating spotlights splash the dark, empty towers in a hopeful way. 'Look  !   I'm over here !  Please buy me !'  In a similar vein, I got a rather desperate email today from a company called Leapfrog trying to sell investment apartments in France at massive discounts on the grounds that 'French property developers don't want to sit on empty stock'.  I can well believe it.
